One line of poetry can work like a spell, conjuring a memory for one person and pulling gospel from someone else. A Line Meant, a project originated by Wisconsin Poet Laureate, Dasha Kelly Hamilton, employs lines from published poems to connect the creativity of neighbors and the humanity of strangers.

How it Works: Whatever the poetry line makes you think of or feel, let that be the beginning of your own poem. Upload your poem draft (best to cut and paste, using "CRTL+Shift+V"). You'll have until Midnight on the last day of the month to edit your poem before it's added to the exchange. At month's end, you'll receive a poem from someone else who wrote to the same prompt. You'll be able to view all the poems written to the prompt and recommend your "Must Read" favorites.

Analog: For writers without internet access or computers, we welcome handwritten and mailed poems. The poem matches will be shared via postal mail.
